Now is the time to celebrate the diversity in the Drag community
The Ascension of Kings, Queens, Things, and Beings is a multi-media photographic-based project documenting the expansive diversity within the Drag community. This series documents artists through photographs, expertly reconfigured into composite images, showcasing each participating performer, in multiple looks, side-by-side with a letter they've written to the future of the Drag community. In addition to collecting images and letters, performers are encouraged to read their letters to a voice recorder, making the project as accessible as possible to folks who rely on sound-based interactions with the world.
I dream of future generations living with the knowledge that we are thinking about them now and building a future where they can flourish.

Why are we doing this?
Gone are the days of one type of aesthetic being represented in dominant society, and we recognize how much work still needs to be done. We are here to make an intentional compilation showing the spectrum of drag and continue the conversation about the future we want to call in.
This has always been an important topic of discussion and as we embrace cultural change and break away from the idea of being a good descendant by pleasing those who came before us - we want to intentionally shift our gaze forward to our own descendants and ask ourselves "how can we be good ancestors to the generations to come?
The documentation of these stories is the most important thing we can do as good ancestors to the future of the queer community. we want these stories to live on long after we have left this physical plane so that those who arrive here after us can know we were thinking about and preparing for them.

In a dream world, I'd throw myself into this project so hard that I step away from my job and do this full-time.
